Surajkund Crafts Mela
The Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Faridabad, held every February since 1987, gathers weavers, potters, painters and cooks from every Indian state and dozens of countries around the 10th-century Surajkund reservoir. A different state is chosen as the 'theme state' each year, and the evening chaupal stage hosts folk dances — including Haryana's Ghoomar and Phag dances.
Exact dates are announced by Haryana Tourism each year; the mela usually runs for about two weeks in early February.
Dates are calculated for Kurukshetra; local panchangs may differ by a day when a tithi spans two sunrises.
